Carl McHugh played a pivotal role, scoring two goals in the 23rd and 71st minute, while Dimitrios Diamantakos notched Kerala Blasters’ lone goal in the 16th minute.

Mohun Bagan has dominated the recent head-to-head matchups, remaining unbeaten in their last six Indian Super League encounters (W5 D1 L0). In the ongoing season, Diamantakos has been Kerala Blasters FC’s primary attacking threat, scoring six goals, including two match-opening goals, making him the joint top scorer in the 2023/2024 season. Jason Cummings has been a standout performer for Mohun Bagan, leading the team with four goals, ranking fifth highest in the competition, two of which were crucial opening goals.

Mohun Bagan’s home record this season includes two wins, one draw, and one loss in four Indian Super League contests. On the other hand, Kerala Blasters have secured two wins and suffered two losses in away matches this season.

Prediction

Expert Analysis:

Based on current form, tactical strengths, and head-to-head dominance, Mohun Bagan Super Giant enters the match as the clear favorites. Their attacking firepower and momentum seem difficult to contain. However, Kerala Blasters’ attacking talent and Ivan Vukomanovic’s tactical acumen should not be underestimated.

We expect a dominant performance by Mohun Bagan Super Giant, potentially a 2-0 or 3-1 victory. However, if Kerala Blasters can tighten their defense and exploit their attacking opportunities on the counter, they might snatch a draw or even a narrow upset.

Report About Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium

The Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), also known as the Salt Lake Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata. It was established on 25th January 1984. The current seating capacity is 68,000 spectators, but prior to renovations in 2011, it accommodated 120,000. Before the construction of Rungrado May Day Stadium in 1989, it held the title of the world’s largest football stadium.

The stadium’s record attendance was in 1997 when 134,000 spectators witnessed the Federation Cup semifinal between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. The field size is 105 m × 68 m, and the surface transitioned back to natural grass from artificial turf in preparation for hosting the U-17 World Cup.

About Indian Super League (ISL)

The Indian Super League (ISL) is the men’s highest level of the Indian football league system. It was founded on 21 October 2013 with the aim of growing the sport of football in India and increasing its exposure in the country. The league is co-promoted by Reliance, Star India, and supported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The ISL began play in October 2014 with eight teams. During its first three seasons, the competition operated without official recognition from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which is the governing body for the sport in Asia. It was structured along the same lines as the Indian Premier League, the country’s premier Twenty20 franchise-based cricket competition. Each season lasted just three months, from October to December, and matches were held daily.

However, before the 2017–18 season, the league expanded to ten teams, extended its schedule to six months, and earned recognition from the AFC. The season runs from September to March and includes a 22-round regular season followed by playoffs involving the top six teams, culminating with the ISL Final to determine the champions. At the end of the regular season, the team with the most points is declared the premiers and presented with the League Winners’ Shield.

Currently, the league comprises 12 clubs. ISL clubs gain qualification to the Asian continental club competitions; regular-season premiers qualify directly for the subsequent season’s AFC Cup group stage. The league has received unmatched visibility in a short span of time and is speculated to be one of the top-tier leagues in India after the I-League.
